R & R Time

It's "Recovery Week" now, the one week of rest between chemo rounds. Derek has been giving himself daily injections of neupogen, and is staying hunkered down at home to avoid exposure to viruses while his immune system is compromised. We do temperature checks daily to watch for any changes that might signal infection. On Friday he will have labwork done to see if blood levels are back to normal, and then the next round of chemo will proceed. Days are long and pretty boring, but he's doing well eating often, getting lots of rest, keeping hydrated, and continuing to trounce (most of the time) any backgammon challengers.

He always enjoys hearing from you all - and we appreciate your keeping him in your thoughts and prayers as he rests and regains strength this week!

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
