Hospital discharge was quickly processed and Derek was home by noon on Thursday, dropping immediately into the recliner with a neck pillow for some uninterrupted snoozing bliss. With a very tender shoulder, he began to regain some appetite and gradually more strength.
Signs the recovery was taking a good turn:
- He asked for his Chipotle leftovers from the day before;
- Sports talk with his dad, who filled him in on the FFL draft he missed;
- He pulled out the backgammon for a challenge. (When I won the 2/3 challenge, we went to 3/5 and, as usual, he pulled out the victory.)
Recovery Day Two was low-key and as restful as possible. As we prepared to call it "a day," a quick temp check was a little higher than normal, so we monitored that for a couple extra hours watching it rise a bit, and then turn back around, allowing us to finally relax and get some sleep. Thanks for keeping Derek in your prayers as the long process of shoulder recovery continues, and the next cancer treatment plans are made.
Yes, we are thankful it's Friday. We wish all of you a happy, healthy, and safe Labor Day Weekend!

Guess we'd better head out for Chipotle tomorrow in honor of Derek! Rest easy, and be assured that you are in good hands both medically and spiritually. You are never far from our thoughts/prayers. We love the pictures and beautiful smiles.
