We are coming up on the second go-round with hospital admitting routine, and now we know how it goes. The doctor's office puts in a "reservation" for the date, we call the charge nurse on the floor the night before and check to see if any beds are available. If so, we go in as scheduled. If not, we call again the next day and go from there.
So, Derek is scheduled to be admitted on Friday, but we will let you know when that actually happens. He will be packed and ready to check-in for another 6-day stay. We all feel less anxiety this time, since now we know what to expect with the whole process, and have the hope that Derek will tolerate this round of high-dose chemo as well as he did the first.
People ask, "How is Derek doing?"
The answer is complicated, but the simple response is, "Just fine!"
He feels well, since the type of cancer he has is not causing any pain or discomfort at this time. The tumor does not seem to be growing. And with his blood count revitalized, he has been out and about as much as he likes. With no work schedule, he has lots of free time. He's eating well and enjoying any calls and notes and outings with friends and family. Thanks to you all for the continued prayers! We'll be in touch when the next round begins.

Update Thursday night: All systems GO for admitting Friday at noon. Keith will take him over to get checked in, I will meet them there later after work. Next post from San Francisco!
