Hold Us Up, Lord

We received the following poem from our church's "Empty Arms" ministry, along with a bundle of helpful resources for parents dealing with the loss of a child. It is a prayer that I have found myself paraphrasing a bit during these recent weeks. We know that we are not "alone," however, and have already had opportunities to see glimpses of the dawn, and the sunshine that is sure to follow. A month ago, I couldn't have imagined it. God is good.

"Hold Us Up, Lord"
~ author unknown

Lord, we know you're always busy
For you've many things to do,
But when sorrow overcomes us,
Well, we need to talk to you
For we've lost someone precious
And he's with you there above.
And he's someone that we needed
and he's someone that we love.

We are feeling lost and all alone,
And though we do believe,
We need you, Lord, to hold us up,
To help us while we grieve.
Please give us strength and courage, Lord,
To bear what we must bear,
And nudge us when our faith is weak
To remind us you are near.

Give us hope for our tomorrows,
Tell us life will still go on,
Show us, Lord, that all this darkness
Will be followed by the dawn.
You have led us through so many things,
You've pulled us through before.
Hold us up, Lord, till we're through this
And we are strong once more.

Donna, continuing the blog is a very good thing. It's good for your soul, heart and mind.

Even though God doesn't seem to talk to us in an audible or concious way, (as in the Old Testemant), His voice is filtered through your earth bound friends and family.

In some small way, our comments are inspired by the hand of God. In a large way, He has given you the means to reach out to family and friends in order to receive any comfort from our feeble words.

Thank you all for the encouragement. You are right, Steve, comments of care do bring comfort and so we know they are God-inspired.
