The camping trip was relaxing and envigorating as we soaked up some warm sunshine for the first time this winter. On Valentine's Day we took a day trip to the nearby Monterey coast where waves were crashing and Lover's Point park was a beautiful place to watch them. Lunch with some good clam chowder on Cannery Row topped off our day at the Bay.
An unexpected phone call brought sad news, however, as Keith's mom relayed that her husband of nearly 10 years had suffered a critical heart attack and wouldn't live much longer. They had been on a trip and were in a Fresno hospital. So, we headed home a day early to spend time with them on Monday. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning. Now we will be doing what we can to help her with arrangements and with the life adjustments that will come. We're thankful that she has a close community of friends and church to also surround her with support at this time of loss.
