One love, One life

The date has arrived - the one Derek had looked forward to ever since it was announced - the U2 360 Tour concert in Las Vegas! He purchased tickets as soon as they went on sale, planning to make the trip with fellow fans. Later, when cancer treatments were underway, Keith and I scheduled the day off work, intending to drive him there if he felt well. Now, no need for the drive, as D is in his front row balcony seat already! Instead, we'll take the day to remember his enjoyment of their music and the contagious excitement he had about their spectacular concerts. Always a huge fan of this band, as his e-mail address "U2Ddog" attests, he probably owned every CD and single U2 marketed - and that is a BIG stack.

How appropriate at this concert's finale, that, following the song "One" (the final verse printed on D's memorial service program), Bono sings an a cappella version of "Amazing Grace" to lead into "Where the Streets Have No Name," along with the Beatles' "All You Need is Love."

"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children
and live a life of love, just as Christ also loved you...."
- Ephesians 5:1-2
Derek certainly lived a life of love, just as he was dearly loved.
Listen or hum along to a U2 song today and you can be sure Ddog will be smiling.

Thanks Donna for sharing this. Wonderful memories to keep in your hearts and just remember how loving Derek was.

I was really looking forward to seeing the show with him! It would have been my first U2 show, believe it or not. What's really cool is that the stage is visible from the highway, as it towers above the walls of the stadium!
