God brought to our world indescribable joy
When a few years ago we were blessed with a boy
Our family complete with this special someone
We affectionately called him our “favorite son.”
With his sister he’d lovingly play and tease
A spirit so sweet, always trying to please
We observed his tender heart on display
Showing love for others in his humble way.
Passion for life and good fun was his style
He was known for his ever-present smile
Loving to laugh, his eyes sparkled blue
Expressions spoke volumes when words were few.
Health issues unknown to others he faced
With determined resolve and quiet grace.
In each challenge, perseverance he learned
For strength that he needed, to God he turned.
His life brought trials, both large and small
With a positive outlook, he faced them all.
Never complaining, he did all that he could
During treatments, he’d simply report, “I’m good.”
Confronted with his final earthly fight
He assured us that he would be all right
Less concerned for himself than for how we felt
His unwavering courage made our hearts melt.
Faithfully enduring, he finished the race
Slipping from our grasp into God’s embrace
For a life lived well, the eternal prize
Forever a hero he’ll be in our eyes.
