We like to pull out our trailer once in awhile and take it for a ride - somewhere... anywhere... just to be in a different setting. Over Father's Day weekend, that's just what we did. Simple? Sort of. Without comforts? Not a chance! Destination: Five-star RV Resort with full hook-ups, pool and jacuzzi, plush clubhouse with digital TVs, fireplace and 24-hour coffee bar, ETC. Who says camping has to be primitive? :)
Isolated from civilization (and yes, an Indian casino) by at least a half a mile, and set atop a hill surrounded by oaks and pines, it was "wilderness" enough for us - this time. The weather was perfect, and so was the pool temperature. The nearby Shenandoah Valley wine country beckoned us to visit a few favorite wineries and a couple of new ones. At the new Bray Vineyards, we laughed at the play on words in the name of their Zinfandel offering, BrayZin Hussy, and the signs posted admonishing "Farm Responsibly."
According to the definition, we really can't call that "camping" I suppose. Next to them, we were the ones living the Simple Life. We only had Cable. :)
As always, it's all about perspective.

- And I remember as a child that some family member laughed at our camping neighbors because they actually brought pillows for sleeping comfort! We didn't think that was appropriate for "camping." The standards of generations have certainly changed. - But, as long as it's fun and enjoyed, it's okay.
Yes, my variety of camping experiences have enriched me with lots of wonderful memories: in sleeping bags on the ground (air mattress was luxury!), gazing at the stars. All enjoyed, that's for sure!
