Something Special

I've been attending a six-week "Adult Bereavement Support Group" at our local Hospice facility, and each week we are given "homework assignments" - small self-help tasks to encourage us between sessions. Last week's homework: Do something special for yourself.

The timing was perfect and so, not wasting any time, the very next day Keith and I left on a trip to visit Jamie, Chris and Kendall who were coming to Las Vegas for a family birthday celebration. Two of my sisters flew in from Denver and San Diego to meet their grand-niece and visit with us. At age 4-1/2 months, Kendall was a bundle of interactive cuteness as we soaked up our grandma and grandpa time over the weekend. The weather was sunny and warm, the pool refreshing, our suite quiet and relaxing, and visiting time wonderful. We loved every minute of it. There were even reminders of Derek that brought smiles.

It was all Something Special. Assignment: Completed.
