Christmas week flew by with a line-up of special holiday events, visiting and visitors, and the Birthday celebrations for Kendall and Jesus. With Jamie back in town for Christmas for the first time since her marriage, she was eager to have Chris experience some of her, and our, holiday traditions - none of which included snow.
On Christmas Eve, we pulled out the backgammon board for our newest Petersen Family tradition: The Annual Backgammon Tournament. Those who have followed my blog will remember that it was instituted last year while we were in Duluth as a tribute to Derek's love of games and competitive spirit, and Chris became the first winner of the Deez Championship Award pendant. As this year's defending champion, he drew names to select his opponent in the semi-final round, and the match-ups were set: Chris vs. Keith, and Jamie vs. Donna. The younger generation squeaked out victories in Round One, and so with the Finals between Chris and Jamie, the pendant was destined to return to Duluth for 2011. The pictures show the outcome of the 2nd Annual Tournament:

| I had the game won, unless Jamie rolled a double. In true Derek style, she rolled a double! |

Congratulations, Jamie! And thanks, Derek, for inspiring us to carry on your love of Fun and Games!

That was the most beautiful and well timed double six in history!! Sorry it was at your expense, mom!
Don't be sorry about your timely stroke of luck. You know Derek had to be laughing - that was his signature stunt! :)
